Murder Wears Tartan

I have very much enjoyed the previous two books in this series, so I was thrilled to get my hands on Murder Wears Tartan.


This time, Joyce and Ginger are travelling to Scotland, wear they see some majestic scenery, some culture, and stumble over a body.


In spite of having a nasty cold when I read this book, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ginger and Joyce’s banter is as sparkling as ever, and the true friendship that lies underneath is definitely part of the appeal of this series.


The setting is wonderful, with majestic scenery, several old buildings, and some fascinating history. None of which detracts from the central plot.


The mystery itself was a fascinating one. I had a great time trying to work out who the murderer was, alongside Joyce and Ginger. 


If you’re looking for a great murder mystery, with a sparky and loyal friendship, and a glorious setting, this is the book for you.

Even and Odd by Sarah Beth Durst My rating: 4 of 5 stars Sarah Beth Durst is a new author for me, but I’d seen several recommendations, so I thought I’d give Even and Odd a try. I enjoyed this magical adventure. Even, Odd, and Jeremy are great characters. The character development is good, especially for Jeremy. The world building is really good, both in the magical land of Firoth, and in the mundane world. I liked the idea of the border shops, and the magical beings were fun. The plot was really great, a good blend of the children adventuring on their own, but realistic levels of handing over to parents when available. A lot of children’s books seem to ignore this aspect, so this was good to see. The pacing is good, exciting, but not too tense or scary. Blog Tour - Death at a Paris Hotel

  Review - 5 out of 5 stars: I have been enjoying the Lady Eleanor Swift series since the very beginning, and Death at a Paris Hotel is no exception.  This time around, Eleanor, Hugh, Clifford, and Gladstone are in Paris celebrating. Naturally, people start dying, and our favourite characters start investigating! I really enjoyed the setting. The different areas of the city, and the Chateau, all had their different atmospheres. It was fun exploring so many places through the characters eyes. The mystery was most, well mysterious! It’s hard to say very much without any spoilers, but every time I thought I might have some idea what was going on, they found out something else that threw a new light on things.  As always, it was a joy to spend time with some of my favourite characters. Review: The Enforcer Enigma

The Enforcer Enigma by G.L. Carriger My rating: 5 of 5 stars Gail Carriger (aka G. L. Carriger) is my favourite author, and I will read anything she has written. I have high expectations, and she exceeds them every time.  This book was wonderful, just like all the others in this series. It was both hilarious and touching. It had a beautiful, heartwarming plot. As usual, the use of language is wonderful, and often playful, in a way that reminds me of P. G. Wodehouse (though the plot is obviously not alike).
