The Miss Underhay Mysteries by Helena Dixon are some of my all time favourite cosy crimes. So when a chance to review Murder on the Cornish Coast came up, I jumped on it.


This is the 19th book in the series, and this time Kitty and Matt (and Bertie, of course) are off to Cornwall to help Lady Cordelia Hedges try and work out both what happened when her father was murdered a few months earlier, and who is trying to kill her now. They are also investigating a mysterious reappearance from Matt’s past. 


I very much enjoyed visiting the Cornish coast, and Highcliffe Hall. A real sense of the village right on the shore came through, as well as the large house just outside it.


There were an interesting collection of characters staying at Highcliffe Hall, any one of whom could be the murderer. It was great fun trying to work out who the culprit was, alongside Kitty and Matt.


Overall, this was another fascinating mystery with favourite characters.

Book Description:

As Bertie the dog retrieves a knife from behind the curtain, Kitty’s list of suspects grows: could the murderer be Cordelia’s suspicious stepsister, her spoiled future mother-in-law, or someone even closer to home…?


Then a house guest eats a poisoned chocolate from a box addressed to Cordelia and dies. This latest tragedy helps Kitty to make progress in her investigations at last. But is Kitty floundering? Will she be able to solve this case before someone else gets hurt, or will Kitty end up in a watery grave?


Fans of Agatha Christie, T.E. Kinsey and Lee Strauss will adore this utterly charming murder mystery. The perfect treat for cozy crime fans!

The Christmas Love Letters: a gorgeous, heartwarming new Christmas romance to cosy up with this winter by Sue Moorcroft My rating: 5 of 5 stars I love Sue Moorcroft books, and Christmas books, so I was excited to be invited to read The Christmas Love Letters. I was not disappointed! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I loved the story relating to the love letters, and how they (eventually) brought people together. I loved the setting. Nelson’s Bar is clearly a beautiful place near the sea, and all the snow made the book seem extra Christmassy. The characters were also great. I loved Maddy, and the way she’s coped under difficult circumstances, and given Lyla such a lovely childhood. I really liked Raff too, and in fact all the other characters, with the exception of Harris. I understand his reasons, but that is not how you treat anyone you care about! Sue Moorcroft has produced another beautifully romantic and Christmassy story. I highly recomme...

Blog Tour - Murder in Mayfair

  Review - 5 out of 5 stars: I love the Lady Eleanor Swift mysteries, and Murder in Mayfair was no exception. This time, Eleanor is trying to solve a murder and a burglary at the same time. I really enjoyed being along for the ride as she frantically tries to find the truth.  Eleanor is a favourite character, I love her forthrightness and the way she never gives up. She’s also kind and compassionate. I loved the way that she, Clifford, and Hugh worked together on this case. The mysteries themselves were intriguing, and I enjoyed the way finding out new facts gradually revealed what had actually happened. And I was still surprised at the reveal!  As always, I enjoyed the historical notes at the end. Overall, this was another excellent mystery from a favourite author.  I was given a copy of this book, my opinions are my own.
