I love cozy crime, so I’m always excited to try a new author.


I found it took me a little while to get into this book, all the different characters were a bit confusing to start with. However, once I’d finally got these established in my brain, I got involved in the story. I suspect my difficulty was down to my brain fog!


The mystery itself is very interesting, and our amateur detectives solve it pretty much entirely without police assistance (or interference!). I didn’t guess who the murderer was until quite near the end.


The cast of characters is different to any other cozy crime I’ve read, and I found Juno’s wild theories particularly entertaining. I didn’t really click with any of the main characters, but I did enjoy the emerging friendship between Phoebe and Juno.


Overall, this was an interesting mystery with an unusual cast of characters.

Blog Tour - Murder in Mayfair

  Review - 5 out of 5 stars: I love the Lady Eleanor Swift mysteries, and Murder in Mayfair was no exception. This time, Eleanor is trying to solve a murder and a burglary at the same time. I really enjoyed being along for the ride as she frantically tries to find the truth.  Eleanor is a favourite character, I love her forthrightness and the way she never gives up. She’s also kind and compassionate. I loved the way that she, Clifford, and Hugh worked together on this case. The mysteries themselves were intriguing, and I enjoyed the way finding out new facts gradually revealed what had actually happened. And I was still surprised at the reveal!  As always, I enjoyed the historical notes at the end. Overall, this was another excellent mystery from a favourite author.  I was given a copy of this book, my opinions are my own. Review: The Enforcer Enigma

The Enforcer Enigma by G.L. Carriger My rating: 5 of 5 stars Gail Carriger (aka G. L. Carriger) is my favourite author, and I will read anything she has written. I have high expectations, and she exceeds them every time.  This book was wonderful, just like all the others in this series. It was both hilarious and touching. It had a beautiful, heartwarming plot. As usual, the use of language is wonderful, and often playful, in a way that reminds me of P. G. Wodehouse (though the plot is obviously not alike). I really can’t recommend this series (and Gail Carriger in general) enough. View all my reviews
