  Review - 5 out of 5 stars: I very much enjoyed the previous two books in this series, Murder in the Scottish Highlands, and Murder at the Loch. So I was excited to start A Very Bookish Murder. This time around, there’s a literary group in Locharran for a writer’s retreat, and the speaker is found dead. Ally just can’t help getting involved in solving the case. I really enjoyed reading this mystery. There was a fine collection of characters attending the writer’s retreat, and they made excellent suspects.  The mystery itself was a fascinating one, and I really enjoyed trying to puzzle it out, as each character turned out to have a motive, and more and more secrets were revealed. As always, I loved the location of Locharran. The scenery is beautiful, and Ally’s B&B charming. It was fun to spend time with Ally and her friends again.   Review - 5 out of 5 stars: I very much enjoyed Death at the Highland Loch (the first in this series), so I was keen to read Murder on a Scottish Island. I was not disappointed. This book was so much fun to read. Poppy is a very determined and engaging character. I like the fact that she cares about the (potential) victims of crimes, as well as solving the mystery. I found her relationship with Inspector MacKenzie fun and her frustration with the other police officers who don’t listen to her all too understandable. The only thing I found a little distracting, was quite how often Poppy was lusting after him. It was amusing to start with, but cropped up a little too often for my taste. The setting is a beautiful one, and sets off the story well. I enjoyed the little bits of description that Lydia Travers has included.   Review - 5 out of 5 stars: I have been a fan of the Miss Underhay Mysteries since the very beginning (Murder at the Dolphin Hotel), and they just keep getting better and better. This time, Kitty and Matt are off to Paris, accompanying Kitty’s grandmother, who hasn’t been well. It isn’t long before bodies start appearing, and our sleuths are investigating. I really enjoyed this story. I had suspicions of the murderer from quite early on, but I could never be sure! And it was enormous fun trying to figure out if I was right. There were plenty of suspects to choose from. I also enjoyed seeing some of Paris through Matt and Kitty’s eyes, as they did manage to get a little sightseeing done in between investigating. Overall, this was another excellent and intriguing mystery from a favourite author. I highly recommend the whole series! I was given a copy of this book, my opinions are my own.
