I’ve been a fan of the Mrs Lillywhite Investigates series for a while now, so I jumped on the chance to review the audiobook of Death on the Isle of Love, the third in the series.

This time around, Rosemary and Co have taken a holiday to Cyprus, and it’s not long before there’s a death.

I really enjoyed listening to this mystery. The story is a good one, with all sorts of suspicious characters staying and working at the hotel. It was great fun to follow Rosemary and her friends as they try to figure out what happened.

The setting was a lovely one, with the luxurious hotel and the beautiful surroundings. Although Rosemary and Co didn’t manage to see as much of it as they were hoping to!

The narration was very good, putting in expression and feeling, and generally bringing the story to life. The different characters were well distinguished with different voices.

Overall, I very much enjoyed this murder mystery. I love the characters, the plot, and the narration is great too.

I really liked Raff too, and in fact all the other characters, with the exception of Harris. I understand his reasons, but that is not how you treat anyone you care about! I so felt for the main character, as I’m allergic to the sun too (though not to anything like the same extent).   I’ve loved the Lady Eleanor Swift Mysteries since the very first book, A Very English Murder, came out. A Death in Venice was no exception. This time, Eleanor, Clifford, and their animal and human entourage are in Venice. It’s not long before Eleanor gets wrapped up in a mystery! I loved reading this book, the plot is intriguing, and I enjoyed watching Eleanor try and figure it out, especially as there didn’t seem to be much in the way of motive to start with. The setting was excellent, and really different to anything we’ve seen Eleanor and Co tackle before. The colourfulness and unusual landscape of Venice really came through. It felt like the ideal setting for the intrigue of this particular story. Overall, this was an intriguing and exciting mystery, in a unique setting.
