The Glendale Hall series has been one of the best new finds that I’ve come across in the last year, so I was thrilled to receive an ARC of Hopeful Hearts at Glendale Hall from the author.

This was another enjoyable instalment in the series. This time, the focus is on Heather and Rory. Heather has had a lot of big things happen, and made big decisions in a rush, and still feels very uncertain as to whether it’s the right thing for her. It was lovely to see her come into her own by the end of the book. I really like both her and Rory, who is so patient with her. We also get to see well loved characters from the previous two books, who form a supportive community that is great to see.

I’m not normally a fan of stories skipping about in time, but it works really well in this book, the memories fitting in seamlessly with the main narrative. They definitely add something to the story, allowing us to see important moments in Heather and Rory’s relationship so far, without having to go over everything that has happened.

There was only one little thing that niggled me about this story. When Stewart repeatedly hints that he wants them to be together romantically, Heather says nothing to indicate she’s not interested, for quite a long time. However, I think it’s just that she’s so anxious about everything, she’s not able to be sure, even about her relationship with Rory.

I loved the subplot with Angus, the way he starts to come out of his shell a little by the end of the book. It was wonderful to see how everyone worked together to stop the fire from taking hold, especially the way Heather stepped in. I enjoyed seeing the trust build between Heather and Angus.

If you’re looking for a feel good story to make you smile, then look no further! This one will warm the cockles of your heart.
