Review: Escape From Aurora

This is the sequel to Frostheart, which I enjoyed a few months ago. It follows on nicely from the first book, continuing the tale of Ash, and his friends, as he searches for his parents, and where he belongs.

I thought this story was well written, and it is certainly extremely exciting! I enjoyed meeting with all the fun characters from the first book, as well as a few new ones. There are also a couple of exciting new locations to explore. Ash’s continuing revelations of the nature of leviathans are great to read about, and I loved getting to know more about Rook.

However, I found it rather too stressful for my taste. There are too many people (and creatures) hating others, and trying to kill them. This is the kind of real-world nastiness that I read to escape from.

The illustrations are excellent, as they were in the first story. They are really expressive, and bring the people and locations to life (not to mention the leviathans).

I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed Frostheart, and to anyone looking for a thrilling fantasy adventure.

The Christmas Love Letters: a gorgeous, heartwarming new Christmas romance to cosy up with this winter by Sue Moorcroft My rating: 5 of 5 stars I love Sue Moorcroft books, and Christmas books, so I was excited to be invited to read The Christmas Love Letters. I was not disappointed! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I loved the story relating to the love letters, and how they (eventually) brought people together. I loved the setting. Nelson’s Bar is clearly a beautiful place near the sea, and all the snow made the book seem extra Christmassy. The characters were also great. I loved Maddy, and the way she’s coped under difficult circumstances, and given Lyla such a lovely childhood. I really liked Raff too, and in fact all the other characters, with the exception of Harris. I understand his reasons, but that is not how you treat anyone you care about! Review: The Ice Garden

The Ice Garden by Guy Jones My rating: 4 of 5 stars A magical tale. I really enjoyed this book.
