Blog Tour - Murder in Paris

Review - 5 out of 5 stars: I have been a fan of the Miss Underhay Mysteries since the very beginning (Murder at the Dolphin Hotel), and they just keep getting better and better. This time, Kitty and Matt are off to Paris, accompanying Kitty’s grandmother, who hasn’t been well. It isn’t long before bodies start appearing, and our sleuths are investigating. I really enjoyed this story. I had suspicions of the murderer from quite early on, but I could never be sure! And it was enormous fun trying to figure out if I was right. There were plenty of suspects to choose from. I also enjoyed seeing some of Paris through Matt and Kitty’s eyes, as they did manage to get a little sightseeing done in between investigating. Overall, this was another excellent and intriguing mystery from a favourite author. I highly recommend the whole series! I was given a copy of this book, my opinions are my own. Book Description: Freshly baked baguettes, a moonlit walk beneath the twinkling lights of the Ei...

Review - Mince Pies and Murder

Image
Review - 4 out of 5 stars: I very much enjoyed the previous book in this series (The Cream Tea Killer), so I decided to give Mince Pies and Murder a go. I’m glad I did. I found this a little easier to get into than the previous book, as I now know who all the main characters are, and mostly how they relate to one another. I definitely intend to go back and catch up with books 1 and 2, before book 5 comes out (assuming there is a book 5, I hope so!). I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fun getting to know the characters a bit better. I like Morwenna - she’s not always the most sensible person, but she does her best to protect her family, and they do the same for her. The setting is a lovely one. I love the sea, so it’s great to be able to travel there via reading. I also enjoyed the town and the people in it. The mystery was an interesting one. It took me quite a long time to figure out who was behind all the incidents. The plot line was intriguing, but not too stressful!...

Blog Tour - Death at a Paris Hotel

Review - 5 out of 5 stars: I have been enjoying the Lady Eleanor Swift series since the very beginning, and Death at a Paris Hotel is no exception.  This time around, Eleanor, Hugh, Clifford, and Gladstone are in Paris celebrating. Naturally, people start dying, and our favourite characters start investigating! I really enjoyed the setting. The different areas of the city, and the Chateau, all had their different atmospheres. It was fun exploring so many places through the characters eyes. The mystery was most, well mysterious! It’s hard to say very much without any spoilers, but every time I thought I might have some idea what was going on, they found out something else that threw a new light on things.  As always, it was a joy to spend time with some of my favourite characters. I missed the ladies and Tomkins, of course, but I very much enjoyed spending lots of time with Eleanor, Hugh, and Clifford. And seeing them starting to function even better as a team. It was al...

Blog Tour - Murder at the English Manor

Review - 5 out of 5 stars: The Miss Underhay Mysteries is one of my absolute favourite series, so I was thrilled to be invited to review the 20th book, Murder at the English Manor. Kitty and Matt are called in by Mrs Craven, who is worried about the disappearance of her maid’s sister.  I loved this book. There’s a fine collection of characters for Kitty and Matt to investigate, and things are not always as they seem. I had a lot of fun following along as they tried to figure out what has been going on. I liked the setting too. The rather dilapidated house, with its mausoleum and lake, was an excellent place for a murder mystery.  I can’t say too much more without spoilers, but the culprit was not who I expected, which is always a fun outcome. Overall, this was an excellent mystery, in a great setting, alongside characters who feel like old friends. What could be better? I was given a copy of this book, my opinions are my own. Book Description: A glamorous engagement cel...
