I’ve been enjoying the Lady Swift series since the very beginning, so I couldn’t wait to read Murder Stage Left.


Our favourite detective agency is in Stratford this time, investigating some thefts, when fires and murders start occurring.


It took me a little longer to get into this book than usual, though I think that’s more to do with how I was feeling than the book. However, once I did get into it, I thoroughly enjoyed it.


It was great fun to see the Byron detective agency getting into its stride, and Hugh adapting to no longer being in the police. This collection of characters are old friends by now, and I’m loving seeing how they’re getting on in each book.


The mystery was an engrossing one. Everyone seemed to be hiding something, which further obscured the truth. I loved trying to figure it out alongside the detectives.


Overall, this was another excellent and intriguing mystery, full of favourite characters. What more could you want?

Starting out writing high-end travel articles and books, they published everything from self-improvement to humour, before embarking on their first historical mystery. Hunting for local gossip at the town tearoom, Eleanor discovers Ratcliffe had secrets he was desperate to keep from stealing the show… But the culprit is waiting in the wings. And it’s only a matter of time before Eleanor steps too far into their deadly spotlight. Can she catch the killer before its curtains for her too?

Blog Tour - Death at a Paris Hotel

  Review - 5 out of 5 stars: I have been enjoying the Lady Eleanor Swift series since the very beginning, and Death at a Paris Hotel is no exception.  This time around, Eleanor, Hugh, Clifford, and Gladstone are in Paris celebrating. Naturally, people start dying, and our favourite characters start investigating! I really enjoyed the setting. The different areas of the city, and the Chateau, all had their different atmospheres. It was fun exploring so many places through the characters eyes. The mystery was most, well mysterious! It’s hard to say very much without any spoilers, but every time I thought I might have some idea what was going on, they found out something else that threw a new light on things.  As always, it was a joy to spend time with some of my favourite characters. Review: The Enforcer Enigma

The Enforcer Enigma by G.L. Carriger My rating: 5 of 5 stars Gail Carriger (aka G. L. Carriger) is my favourite author, and I will read anything she has written. I have high expectations, and she exceeds them every time.  This book was wonderful, just like all the others in this series. It was both hilarious and touching. It had a beautiful, heartwarming plot. As usual, the use of language is wonderful, and often playful, in a way that reminds me of P. G. Wodehouse (though the plot is obviously not alike).
